Joe Hughes
Joe Frank Hughes, 93, of Port Arthur, died Sunday, September 4, 2022, at Christus Southeast Texas – St. Elizabeth, Beaumont. He was born January 24, 1929, in Shelby County, to Reby Cecil Truss Hughes and Joe Riley Hughes.
Joe was a United States Army veteran. He loved his church, Joaquin Church of Christ, and he enjoyed traveling. Joe lived on the river in Logansport, Louisiana which he proudly referred to as his “Garden of Eden”.
Survivors include his daughters, Carolyn Sewell and Juana Countryman, both of Port Arthur; grandsons, Cody Sewell and wife, Angela; David Sewell; and Seth Countryman; great-grandchildren, Cree Nielsen-Sewell and Logan Miller; sister-in-law, Pat Arbuckle; bother-in-law, Buford Huff; and special friends, Buren and Mary Ellen Lowe and Kenneth and Mary Cummings.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Juanell Hughes; two brothers and a sister; grandson, Caleb Countryman; and great-grandson, Michael Wright.
Cremation arrangements for Mr. Hughes will be handled through Broussard’s Crematorium, under the direction of Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland.

Good Good Man! I admired his honesty, integrity, and respect of fellow Man and God. I will miss visiting with him. I hope that those who have passed before Joe will be there to welcome for a big ‘ol family get together!
