John Trahan

April 9, 1932 - January 3, 2018

John Charles Trahan, 85, of China, died Wednesday, January 3, 2018. He was born on April 9, 1932, to Augustine and John Trahan, in Gueydan, Louisiana. John loved going to the race track and casino. He also enjoyed gardening and hunting. John worked on the oilfields for Gold Rush Drilling Company.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Trahan; children, Betty Lou Lee of Galveston; Roderick Trahan and his wife, Diane, of Orange; Mercedes Trahan of China; Brenda Trahan Beaumont; Melinda Trahan of Orange; and Chris Trahan of China; fourteen grandchildren; thirty-four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; daughters, Mary Lou Trahan and Yvonne Wagner; and seventeen brothers and sisters.

A gathering of Mr. Trahan’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m., Sunday, January 7, 2018, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 8, 2018, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 245 West Highway 90, China. Interment will follow at China Cemetery.
