Josie Harper

Josie Harper, 58, of Nederland, died Friday, October 15, 2021, at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas, Beaumont. She was born July 7, 1963, in Mathis, to Paula Olivares Garcia and Jose G. Garcia, Jr.

Josie was employed with Carl Johnson’s Florist company for fifteen years. Her faith was the most important thing to her. She enjoyed baking cakes and cooking, crafting and sewing, and making floral arrangements. Josie was the type of person that never met a stranger. She was a true caregiver to all. Above all else, she cherished her family and loved being “Lita” to her grandchildren.

Survivors include her parents, Paula and Jose Garcia; husband, Ricky Harper, of Nederland; children, Johnika Seals and husband, Louis, of Temecula, California; John Paul Sanders and wife, Britney, of Livingston; Joshua Sanders and wife, Felicia, of Livingston; Halasi Harper and fiancé, Colton Matt, of Nederland; and Makaley Halliburton and husband, Dillan, of Port Arthur; grandchildren, Zachary; Alexandria; Hayden; Evie; Jayden; Jillian; Claire; Jordon; Grayson; Valerie; James; Cohen; and Elliot; siblings, Elena Garcia Casey; Catarina Garcia Williams; Dionisio Olivares Garcia; Eliamar Garcia Phelps; Estela Garcia McPike; Jose Garcia, Jr.; and Elba Garcia Palma; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members; and her fur babies; Reina, Lucy, and Bailey.

She is preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Millie Harper.

A gathering of Mrs. Harper’s family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m., with her funeral service at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 20, 2021, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. Her cremation arrangements will be handled through Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 700 North Street, Suite M, Beaumont, Texas 77701.

    I’m so sad to see this. She was a really good woman. She was home room for Joshua Class. She was always bringing lil goodies to the teachers and his class. She was always smiling.
