Juanita Hebert Mazzola

April 9, 1937 - October 5, 2023

Juanita Hebert Mazzola was born on April 9, 1937, to Lyman Hebert and Sarah Melancon Richard in Louisiana and she passed away peacefully with her family by her side in her home of 58 years in Hamshire, TX on October 5, 2023.

Juanita was a proud alumnus of the Hamshire Bulldogs class of 1955 where she was a band member and twirler. While working at Carnation Ice Cream shop, she met Sam Mazzola. Their love blossomed and they were married on July 20, 1957. They remained committed to each other and to their five children for 49 beautiful years. Sam passed on their 49th wedding anniversary, in which Juanita saw his passing as the full circle of their life together marking the day they married as well as the glorious day that Sam entered his eternal home. She was a seamstress with her Aunt Mabel making custom curtains for JC Penney. After raising her five beautiful children, she began working at Hamshire-Fannett High School in maintenance. This created the opportunity to have many cherished memories with her grandchildren in high school, including frequent lunches and quick visits between classes.

Juanita was a Catholic woman of deep spiritual faith. Even through life’s challenges, she never wavered on her dedication to Jesus, as well as the Holy Family. Through her faith and Catholic upbringing, Juanita nurtured her love and devotion to the Blessed Mother, Mary, using Mary’s maternal love for Jesus as her guide to raising her own family. Over the last ten years, she began researching Saint Faustina who was given the gift of the Divine Mercy Chaplet from the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. This became a constant in Juanita’s life through times of personal trial and struggle, as well as praying for her family, friends, and the world through difficult times. As Juanita was preparing to transition to her Heavenly home, her family recognized that she would pass on Saint Faustina’s feast day.

Juanita is preceded in death by her husband, Sam Anthony Mazzola, and sons, Rickey Lynn Mazzola, and Tony Mazzola.

Juanita is survived by her daughters, Joni Ray and her husband, Carey, Lori Blanda and her husband, Louis; her son Johnny “Bu” Mazzola and his wife, Kim; her grandchildren Nicole Renner and her husband, Wes; Anthony Mazzola and his wife, Kalie; Ryan Ray and his wife, Brandi; Luke Ray and his wife, Ryan; Tanner and Ross Mazzola; Sam and Jake Blanda; Emily Varnado, and her husband, Dalton; and great grandchildren Amy Beth Mazzola; Sarah Renner; Jonah, Carter and Jackson Ray; Heidi and Molly Varnado; Teal and Tatum Mazzola, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Ms. Mazzola’s Rosary will be recited Sunday, October 8, 2023, at 4:00 p.m. with her gathering of family and friends to follow until 7:00 p.m., at Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 9, 2023, at St. Louis Catholic Church, 315 Buccaneer Drive, Winnie.

The family would like to offer profound gratitude to the staff of Hospice Care Team and personally thank Juanita’s in-home care team that included nurses, Chrissy, and Doris, as well as nurse’s aide Jessett. We will forever be grateful for your support, patience, and love through Juanita’s passing.
