Mrs. Pearson, what I called her when I first met her as the alumna adviser of the Delta Zeta Sorority on the Lamar campus, for my four college and sorority years was a role model, confidant, advisor and friend. Later in life she became Kathleen , although it took great effort to call her that instead of Mrs. Pearson. She made such a positive impact on so many lives…especially young lives…including mine. She has been missed for some time as a result of moving to be close to her beloved son. Please know that all who knew her share in your grief and are prayerful knowing this brings you some comfort. DZ love, Paula Tate O’Neal

Mrs. Pearson holds a very special place in my heart, and I tell this story often.

In my last semester as a senior at West Brook, I was doing my best to avoid the making a decision regarding college. One day Mrs. Pearson called me to her office to discuss my college decision. I told her I was going to Lamar for 2 years and then I would transfer to UT or ATM. She immediately told me why this was a horrible idea and proceeded to push a brochure for Southwestern University towards me. As I sat and looked at the brochure, Mrs. Pearson implored me to apply and continued to reenforce that Southwestern was the place for me. I was completely unfamiliar with Southwestern or Georgetown, TX, but decided to apply. Needless to say, I was accepted and decided to take a leap of faith and attend Southwestern University.
Without a doubt Mrs. Pearson’s genuine concern for me shaped my future. Southwestern was the right school for me, and Mrs. Pearson knew this. She cared so much for her students, and she was not scared to give a gentle nudge (or, as for me, a big push) to get us to see our full potential.

Mrs. Pearson, thank you for all you did for your students.

    Patti Lawrence says:

Thank you Mrs. Pearson for helping me and so many other students set goals and help pave the way to achieve them. I also enjoyed my time working as your counselor’s aid at West Brook. You made a big impact on so many.

Thank you for being a strong and fair influence in my school years. You were a very important part of many students lives!
Prayers to the family in this difficult time🙏🏻

Thank you Mrs. Pearson for your guidance and faith in me as a 7th and 8th grader at Vincent then later as my counselor during my high school years at West Brook. Your inspiration and belief in me helped make me a great soldier when I served in the Army and a father to three beautiful daughters. May you rest in peace and I know your memory will be a blessing to all whose lives you touched.
