Kelvin Dale Warnell “Kaboo”
When the phrase “Laughter is good for the Soul” was coined, they had Kab in mind. Kevin was masterful at bringing joy to the hearts of people. He had a way of telling a story that made us know he missed his call as a Comedian. Kab confessed his belief in God and was a life member of Mt. Sinia Missionary Baptist Church. He was a faithful Tither and Usher.
Anyone who knew Kevin knows he was a proud member of the 1979 Class of West Orange–Stark. It brought him joy knowing his classmates adored him. They remained by his side throughout his illness and death. After graduation, Kab enlisted in the United States Navy where he served his country faithfully by receiving an Honorable Discharge.
Upon his return home, Kevin took the City of Orange Fireman’s exam and scored 114 points. At that time, it was the highest score ever achieved by any applicant. With this accomplishment, it ignited his career as a Fireman. Kab was skilled and well–trained in his craft. There is no secret he was considered one of the best Firefighters they had.
Kab’s life reflects the importance of living our DASH. He proved length of time does not matter, but what we do with the time we have does. He was very generous with his funds, wisdom, and time. He donated monthly to St. Jude’s Hospital, Fireman, Policeman fund, begging nieces (Danielle, Kristen, Nayo, Dresdyn, and Skyler), broke nephews (Jordan, D.J. Devaughn), Buddies under the Tree and the Blue Bird crew.
With this in mind, Kevin’s life will forever be cherished by his Mother, Mrs. Delores Warnell (Mickey, deceased); Brother, Donald Ray Warnell (Cathy); Brother, Cedric Teagler, (Sharon); (Sister) Sheryl Warnell Ford/Nissi; (2) Adoring Stepchildren, Bryant and Shanitha McDonald; Dear Cousins, Paul Blanchard, (Richetta) Patrick Blanchard (Bulah) Keleigh Hardest/Nikki, Ronald Warnell(Toni) Linda Ceasar, Roslyn Woodard (Cornealious); Devoted God Sons, Jordan Pitre, Donald Warnell Jr.; Loving God Daughters, Dresdyn Warnell, Nia Jackson, Morgan Jenkins; Loving God Sister, Kay King and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Surrogate Grandchildren, cousins and friends.
A gathering of Mr. Warnell’s family and friends will begin at 9:00 a.m., with his funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m., at Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, 1109 2nd Street, Orange, under the direction of Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. His interment will follow at Magnolia Memorial Garden, Orange.
