Kenneth John Babin, Jr.

November 14, 1951 - April 24, 2024

Kenneth John Babin, Jr., 72, of Beaumont, died Wednesday, April 24, 2024. He was born on November 14, 1951, to Estrella Faye Moore Babin and Kenneth John Babin, Sr., in Beaumont.

Being a native of Beaumont, Kenny graduated from French High School in 1970.  He then married his high school sweetheart, Beverly, on May 17, 1975, and they were blessed with two children, Dustin and Daina.  During their almost 49 years of marriage, they shared many wonderful memories together as a family. Kenny started his career with Coburn’s Supply in 1982 where he revolutionized the way Coburn’s sold Air Conditioning parts and equipment. He spent 36 years with Coburn’s before retiring in 2018.  Coburn’s was very close to his heart.

Kenny was very excited about retirement so he could pursue his two main hobbies more- antique cars and golf.  Kenny had many old hot rods over the years, but his favorite of them all was his 1970 Ford Mustang Fastback.  You would often times find him tinkering with his old cars in the garage while listening (and singing) to the Beatles at full volume.  And Beverly saying “Kenny, you’re going to disturb the neighbors!”  But that never stopped him!  He enjoyed attending car shows as much as he could and even winning quite a few trophies.  Kenny also played countless rounds of golf over the years with his son and best friends.  He was fortunate to play various golf courses all over the country, even lucky enough to make a hole in one!

Kenny was a very positive and optimistic person. He also had a great sense of humor and was always prepared to tell the best joke.  His timing and delivery made the joke even funnier!  But above all, he adored spending time with his three grandchildren, whether it be taking them for a ride in his “race car”, teaching them his love for golf, doing homework, puzzles, Leggos or just taking many naps together. While we know him as Kenny, to his three grandchildren, he will be forever remembered as Popsy.  Kenny was the life of the party, and he enjoyed a good cocktail.  I’m sure it’s 9pm in Heaven and he’s making his nighttime martini.  After fighting cancer as hard as he could the last 5 years, he is now at peace with the Lord.

Survivors include his wife, Beverly Babin; son, Dustin P. Babin and his wife, Jessica, of Montgomery; daughter, Daina L. Babin of Sour Lake; sisters, Sheila Parchman of Bethesda, Maryland and Tanya Tutt and her husband, Tony, of Lumberton; brother, Jeffrey Babin and his wife, Karen, of Elgin; grandson, Dade Whittington of Sour Lake; and granddaughter, Kinsley Babin and grandson, Carson Babin, both of Montgomery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Coburn Cares, Attn: Melisa Sanchez, P.O. Box 2177, Beaumont, Texas 77704, noting in memory of Ken Babin. In addition, Paypal payments can be made to helpme@coburns.com. Thank you and your family for thinking to include Coburn Cares as a source to remember and honor Ken. Coburn Cares was established after several hurricanes and other natural disasters affected Coburn Supply employees.  The organization helps Coburn Supply employees and vendors impacted by natural disasters as well as other hardships of life.  The donations come from current and former employees and vendors as well as any others wanting to support Coburn Supply employees in times of need.

Hard to digest that KB is gone. I know, because he brought me along with him, that Ken, back in the late 1980’s and 1990’s, nearly single handedly is responsible for Coburns becoming the force that they are today in HVAC.
He never would have said it, but I will. He was – and always will be – a giant of our industry whose knowledge was immense, to say nothing of his nearly unparalleled relationships with Coburns employees and reps and manufacturers throughout our industry.
Between my business dealings with Ken, and my many golf games with him, I know that he was also a giant of a man whose family meant the world to him.
KB, you are gone way, way too early, my brother, and you will be missed by so many.
Beverly, D-Bab and Daina Lee, I’m sending my heart-felt love and sorrow to you and your family.
