Larry Joseph Bollich

September 16, 1950 - June 23, 2023

On June 23, 2023, Larry Joseph Bollich, 72, of Hankamer, passed away peacefully while surrounded by loved ones at Houston Methodist Hospital.

Larry was a man that said what he meant and meant what he said. He was a Texas sized tornado trapped in a 6ft frame and lived in a world where a handshake was a binding contract. Now that we have your attention, here’s some facts about a man that lived, a life worth living!

Born on September 16, 1950, to Nicholas and Carolina Bollich in Liberty. His parents knew they were in trouble after a nurse told them that he was the prettiest baby ever born in their hospital, but luckily for them, Larry’s spirit matched his exterior.

After he graduated from Hamshire-Fannett High School in 1969, Larry attended Sam Houston State University, where he broke many young ladies’ hearts by marrying Lee Anne Riff and obtained a Bachelor’s in Animal Science.

Afterwards, he quickly established himself as a technical expert in the oil and gas measurement field, as a Meter Technician for Gulf Oil. His employment for Gulf Oil ultimately led to Larry taking the leap of faith in 1982, founding his own business, Gulf Coast Measuring Services, which is still thriving after 40 plus years of business.

As a member of The American Quarter Horse Association and The Palomino Breeders of America, he loved competing in the Halter and Western Pleasure Horse Shows, winning several World Championships. Additionally, he set the example for others to emulate as a member of The Knights of Columbus Council #3452. The world needs more Larry’s!

Although, he was an avid hunter and always down for a Crawfish boil, his love for all of God’s Creatures was obvious. He enjoyed bird watching (especially Canadian Geese) and tending to his deer, peacocks, ducks, and horses. However, his biggest display of love for all things nature, was even although he was allergic to bees, he always had more than 20+ beehives on his property (that might have been tax related).

In 2008, he reunited with his High School Sweetheart, Susan Middleton, and declared his love for her, not by mere words, but through actions! He completed the Tokyo, Japan, and Houston Marathon just to show her, there was nothing that would prevent him from being near her side.

Although Larry was a loving husband, successful businessman, and a member of various organizations, his proudest accomplishment was the birth of his daughter Kelley and son Christopher.

He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Susan Bollich; daughter, Kelley Bollich Martin and her husband, Daniel; son, Chris Bollich and his wife, Ashley; step-son, Mayes Middleton and his wife, Macy; grandchildren, Mackenzie and Chase Martin, Briley and Jackson Bollich, Connor, Christian, Matthew, and Martha Ann Middleton; brother, Nicholas Bollich and his wife, Shirley; sister, Sharon Bollich Pickett and her husband, Dan; sister, Barbara Bollich Reeser and her husband, Bob; and numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Larry is preceded in death by his wife Lee Anne Riff; parents, Nicholas and Carolina; grandparents, William and Regina Bollich and Dorville and Olinore Manuel.

A Rosary for Mr. Bollich will be recited at 6:00 p.m., with a gathering of his family and friends to follow until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, June 29, 2023, at St. Louis Catholic Church, 315 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:00 a.m., Friday, June 30, 2023, at St. Louis Catholic Church, Winnie. His interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made to St. Louis Catholic Church, 315 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie, Texas 77665 or to the charity of your choice.

If you’ve read this far, thanks for honoring his memory and remember to tell your loved ones you love them. Hug them a little harder because you never know when your story will end.
