Leila Holt

April 24, 1925 - December 16, 2017

Leila “Jackie” Holt, 92, of Nederland, died Saturday, December 16, 2017. She was born on April 24, 1925, in Holton, Kansas, to Parazade Pippin Jones and Sidney Hebert Jones.

Jackie was a charter member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Nederland. She was a member of the red hat society. Jackie will be remembered as an excellent seamstress and for her artistic ability. She was a well loved and sweet lady who will be missed by many.

Survivors include her daughter, Linda “Pepper” Brown of Ingram; son, Johnny Ray Holt and his wife, Crystal, of Nederland; granddaughters, Bunnie Turbeville and her husband, John, of Ingram and Sherri Anderson of Abilene; great-grandchildren, Marah, Velinda, and Aryelle; great-great-grandsons, Gavin and Sylar; sister, Earnestine Kohli and her husband, Bob, of Phoeniz, Arizona; and brother, Monte Jones and his wife, Crystal, of KnobNoster, Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Janey and Sid Jones; husband of sixty-five years, Paul Holt; son, Larry Holt; brothers, Junior, Ted, Jack, and Jerry Allen Jones; and sisters, Laurel McManus and Lorene Koon.

Memorial contributions for Mrs. Holt may be made to American Cancer Society, #4 Bayou Brandt Dr., Suite B, Beaumont, Texas 77706.

A gathering of Mrs. Holt’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 19, 2017, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. Her funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 20, 2017, at Broussard’s, with her interment to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.

I was fortunate enough to be Mrs. Holt's nurse for almost 7 years. She was one of a kind. Pepper did such a good job caring for her. I will truly miss her. Prayers for you all.
