Leona Mae Louvier

Leona Mae Louvier, 89, of China, died Monday, November 22, 2021, at the Cascades at Port Arthur. She was born on April 29, 1932, to Claudia Breaux Benoit and Clevence Benoit, in Highlands. Leona loved being active and helping neighbors, friends, and family. She was always willing to help and not expect anything in return. Leona enjoyed music and loved to sing. She knew every song and could sing it in French.

Survivors include her sons, Moise “Moe” Louvier, Jr. and his wife, Donna, of Little Cypress; Alfred “Al” Louvier and his wife, Renona, of Houston; and Don Louvier and his wife, Regina, of Lumberton; brother, James “AJ” Benoit and his wife, Betty, of Shreveport, Louisiana; sisters, Merdie Winzer of Dickenson; Viola Moss of China; Mary Braniff and her husband, Estil, of Vidor; and Eloise Sparks of Dickenson; grandchildren, DeAnna Sonnier and her husband, Charles, of Fannet; Jason Louvier and his wife, Maria, of Alaska; Brandon Louvier and his wife, Heather, of Baytown; James Louvier and his wife, Amy, of Katy; Daniel Louvier and his wife, Ofure, of Houston; Kristi Louvier of Lumberton; Casey Louvier and his wife, Chelsea, of Lumberton; Alicia Chasion of Orangefield; and Walter Chasion and his wife, Theresa, of Orange; fifteen great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Moise Louvier, Sr.; brothers, Chester and Howard Benoit; and sisters, Shirley Ann Benoit and Jo Ann McBride.

A gathering of Mrs. Louvier’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, November 26, 2021, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 27, 2021, at Broussard’s, with her interment to follow at Rosedale Cemetery, Sour Lake.
