Loyd L. Brumfield. Sr.

April 16, 1925 - December 12, 2017

Loyd L. Brumfield, Sr. 92, of Beaumont, died Tuesday, December 12, 2017. He was born on April 16, 1925, in Jetmore, Kansas, to Mary Crume Brumfield and Ollie Brumfield, one of four children, and last surviving member of his siblings. Loyd graduated from Jetmore High School and was a graduate of Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas. He served in the United States Army with the Biological Warfare Unit in Frederick, Maryland and attended reunions for years with that group. Loyd was employed with Dupont in 1952, working in Indiana, Montague, Michigan, Ireland, London, Tokyo, Japan, and then Beaumont, where he was a superintendent in the Engineering Department, and where he also met his wife Patsy. They each had a son and spent a wonderful time with the boys graduating from high school and college. Loyd and Patsy spent several years traveling foreign and covering many states. When they traveled overseas, they usually traveled with the Kansas State Alumni Group. Loyd was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, served with the Citizens on Patrol group in Old Town for several years, and enjoyed his reunions with KState Engineering Department.

Loyd is survived by his wife, Patsy Sherer Brumfield, of Beaumont; and son, Loyd Brumfield, Jr., and his wife, Rebecca Stumps, of Cedar Hill.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Ester Querbach and Frances Plummer; brother, Elvin Brumfield; and step-son Andrew McGaffey.

A gathering of Mr. Brumfield’s family and friends will be 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, December 14, 2017, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 15, 2017, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 3430 Harrison Avenue, Beaumont.
