Marie Howard Lacy

January 2, 1938 - April 22, 2017

Marie Howard Lacy, 79, of Kountze, died Saturday, April 22, 2017, at Christus Hospital – St. Elizabeth, Beaumont. She was born on January 2, 1938, in Hillister, to Appleonia Compton and Henry Howard. Marie was a student of Waldo Mathews High School in Silsbee and later worked for Kirby Lumber Company for many years.

Survivors include her children, Joyce Marie Haynes and her husband, Herman, of Mansfield, Louisiana; Deidra Ilene Lacy; Stephanie Lynett Lacy; James Earl Lacy and his wife, Theda; and Joe Lacy, all of Kountze; Charles Lacy of Phoenix, Arizona; and Marlon Tyson and James Tyson, Jr., both of Kountze; siblings, Rosie Lee Williams, Helen Jubert, Jeanetta Howard, and Aaron Howard, Sr.; granddaughters, Deshanna Haynes, Natasha Haynes, Quashana Williams and her husband, Elgin, Shanta Lacy, Nicole Lacy, Brandy Lacy, Alexis Lacy, Jaleesa Edwards, Ingrid Edwards, and Arlyssa Williams; grandsons, Adrian Haynes, Damien Haynes, Daniel Earl Lacy, Xavier Lacy, Carson Collins, James Sinclair Lacy, Shaquille Warren, and Eddie Powell, Jr.; great-granddaughter, Lillian Collins; special great-grandchildren, Zachariah Lacy, Messiah Lacy, Le’Darrion Winfield, Kaiden Landry, Kylar Landry, Ava Rose Rogers, Nikki Nwankwo, Joshua Nwankwo, Zachariah Hayes, Isaiah Haynes, and Micah Haynes; a host of nieces and nephews; special friend, Alberta Reece; and sisters-in-law, Betty Lacy and Cathy Shaw, both of Kountze, and Earline Lockett of Oklahoma.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alphonso Lacy, Jr.; children, Alphonso Lacy III, Willie Earl Lacy, Michael Lacy, Thomas Lacy, and Frank Lacy; grandson, Keiron Edwards; great-granddaughter, Aniya Winfield; siblings, Reola “Pruetta” Howard, Alma Carey, and Henrietta Roberson; and special aunts, Tince, Havannah, and Ruthonia.

A gathering of Mrs. Lacy’s family and friends will begin at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, April 29, 2017, with her funeral service at 2:00 p.m., at Northside Church of God in Christ, 331 North Pine Street, Kountze, under the direction of Broussard’s, Kountze.  Her interment will follow at Trinity Valley Cemetery, Kountze.
