Mary Alice Daniels

Mary Alice Daniels, 83, of Beaumont, Texas died Saturday, June 17, 2023. She was born on September 14, 1939, to Edna Buller Walters and Leo Sydney Walters, in Elton, Louisiana.

Survivors include her children, Robert Stephens of Buna, Texas and his children, Dawn, Timothy, and Robert; Mary Jeannotte of Beaumont, Texas and her daughter, Christina; Theresa “Sue” Woodward and her husband, Tommy, of Sapulpa, Oklahoma and her children, Tommy Jr., Jimmy, and Robert; John Stephens and his wife, Holly, of Beaumont, Texas and their children, Tammy and Joseph, Jr.; and Jason Daniels and his wife, Kristy, of Texarkana, Texas and their children, Shayla and Gabriella; seventeen great-grandchildren; and siblings, Doris Murray, Joe Walters, and John “Butch” Walters.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Daniels; sister, Elizabeth Ruth Hinton; and brothers, William “Bill” Walters and James “Jim” Walters.

Aside from being a devoted mother, wife and friend, Mary used her skills as an accomplished seamstress to build her own business, often taking on projects from coast to coast. Her upholstery shop in Beaumont, Texas was open for more than 10 years.

Mary’s compassionate nature was not limited to just her family. Oftentimes, she could be found helping strangers in need with offerings of food or other assistance. Her kind heart knew no bounds.

A gathering of Mrs. Daniels’ family and friends will begin at 2:00 p.m., with her memorial service to follow at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, July 8, 2023, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her cremation arrangements were handled through Broussard’s Crematorium.
