Mary “Beulah” Pearce Romere

Mary “Beulah” Pearce Romere, 92, of Winnie, Texas, passed away on August 15, 2023 in Beaumont, Texas.

Beulah was born on June 15, 1931 in New Augusta, Mississippi and welcomed by her parents and two older brothers. Upon graduating as valedictorian of her high school class, she went on to become a county clerk. In 1960, she met the man of her dreams, Lindy Romere, in a bowling alley, and what followed was a whirlwind relationship of 52 years. Lindy and Beulah proceeded to have 8 children, over a 14 year period, moving every few years to a new city and state.

Beulah worked hard as a stay-at-home mom, and in her ‘spare’ time became one of the most sought after bakers, cake designers and seamstresses in Southeast Texas! She never truly ‘retired’, as she was always busy in her flower garden, in her kitchen or in her swing with at least one of 14 grandbabies or 6 great-grandbabies in her lap.

An amazing wife; a selfless, loving mother; and a caring, kind-hearted friend; Beulah never met a stranger. Her beautiful smile and warm hugs lit up whatever space she was in. We take solace in knowing her faith has, at last, brought her the unsurmountable joy and peace she always deserved.

She is survived by her children, Carla Romere (and Molly); Regina Romere; Donna Clark (and Ben); Kevin Romere, Brenda McLeod (and Mark); Tobin Romere (and Eddie); and Lisa Welter (and Jason). Beulah adored her grandchildren: Tyler and Kristopher Kahla, Andy McLeod, Kori Romere, Rachel Dispenza, Zach McLeod, Nick Thomas, Ryan McLeod, Hannah Rios, Brina Welter, Caitlynn Huesers, Connor McLeod, Jacob Welter and Sara McLeod; as well as her great-grandchildren Kannon and Tegan McLeod; Madison, Olivia and Abigail Kahla and Laikyn Rios.

Beulah was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Charles ‘Lindy’ Romere, and her son, Martin Layne Romere.

To her extended family and friends, we (her children) thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your continued prayers, love and respect you have shown our mother over her incredible lifetime.

A Rosary for Mrs. Romere will be recited at 5:00 p.m., with a gathering of her family and friends to follow until 8:00 p.m., Friday, August 18, 2023, at Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer, Winnie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 19, 2023, at St. Louis Catholic Church, 315 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie. Her interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Winnie.
