Nadia Matar Cowart, 46, of Groves, died Monday, November 20, 2023. The sudden and unexpected passing of Nadia has left a profound void in the hearts of her colleagues, family, and friends. The acclaimed marketing director of 12News, Nadia, aged 46, brought her magnetic charm, vivacious personality, and unparalleled love for music to every aspect of her life.

Born on July 9, 1977, in Port Arthur, Texas, Nadia was a unique blend of humor and passion, making her a cherished presence among her peers and family.

Nadia’s educational journey brought her from graduating at Port-Neches Groves High School and led her to the University of Texas Medical Branch, where she earned a Bachelor of Business degree. Her subsequent career in Marketing, Promotions, and Non-Traditional Revenue (NTR) spanned 12 successful years, where her dedication and passion stood out.

Throughout her career, Nadia managed multiple stations within her field, earning recognition from non-profit organizations in Southeast Texas. Her remarkable achievements included surpassing all goals, showcasing her passion and proficiency.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Nadia was deeply committed to community service. She played a vital role in relief operations during Hurricane Harvey, embodying her dedication to making a positive impact in her community.

Nadia Cowart was more than a skilled marketing director; she was a beacon of kindness and sunshine. Her vibrant personality, love for singing and cooking, and infectious sense of humor endeared her to family, friends, and colleagues alike.

As we mourn the loss of Nadia Cowart, we also celebrate her life and the incredible impact she had on those around her. Her legacy will endure in the hearts of everyone fortunate enough to know and work with her.

Survivors include her daughter, Sophia Cowart, of Groves; parents, Nabil and Wadad Matar, of Groves; brother, Ziad Matar of Hillebrandt Acres; sister, Lina Matar, of Houston; uncles, Habeeb Nacol, of Beaumont; George Matar, of League City; and Abdallah Jarjoura, of Sydney, Australia; aunts, Georgette Ashi, of Sugarland and Nalida Akiki of Junia, Lebanon; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions for Nadia may be made to St. Michael Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church, 690 North 15th Street, Beaumont, Texas 77702.

A gathering of Ms. Cowart’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., with a Trisagion at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, November 30, 2023, at St. Michael Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church, 690 North 15th Street, Beaumont, with her interment to follow at St. Michael Cemetery, Beaumont.
