Patrick Jelinek

October 23, 1972 - March 15, 2018

Patrick Allen Jelinek, a lifelong resident of Beaumont, died March 15, 2018. He was born on October 23, 1972 to his parents, Mike and Lynn Jelinek of Beaumont. A graduate of Kelly High School, he attended Texas Tech University where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. In 2001, after 9/11, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served in Japan and Iraq. Returning home after his honorable discharge, he finished his degree at Lamar University and then pursued a career as an independent petroleum landman.

Known to be fun loving, caring, devoted and humorous, he developed strong friendships with most he knew. His main loves were animals, guitar, cooking, and astronomy. As an uncle of his beloved sister’s children, there was never a call to service he would not answer, even driving 2 ½ hours in the middle of the night to Baton Rouge to sit at a hospital bedside for his LSU niece and nephew.

Pat is survived by his mother, Lynn Jelinek; brother, Christopher Jelinek; and sister, Allison Brown and her husband, Bill. He is also survived by his nieces and nephew to whom he was extremely devoted. They are Grace Ann, Will, Lilly, and Caroline Brown of Austin.

A gathering of Mr. Jelinek’s family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, March 22, 2018, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 24, 2018, at Broussard’s. His cremation arrangements will be handled through Broussard’s Crematorium.

Pat was a gentle soul. I remember that even when we were in High School and most of us were loose with our tongues Pat remained silent. I always respected that about him. After his father passed away he called me to thank me for some words I had written about his dad. I don't think we had spoken in over 20 years. When we got off the phone he said that he might make it to Austin and we should connect. We never did. I regret that. However, my hope is that Pat is with his dad and his eternal Father in Heaven where every tear shall be wiped away and they will reign with Christ forever.. Pat thank you for your time here and thank you for your kindness.
