Patsy Sue Sedtal

February 18, 1938 - April 17, 2024

Patsy Sue Parent Sedtal, 86, of Nederland, died Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at Houston Hospice surrounded by loved ones. She was born February 18, 1938, in Port Arthur, to Mona Marie Boudreaux Parent and Robert Pierre Parent.

She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1955 and received a degree from Port Arthur Business College. She married Ronald Lee Sedtal on April 27, 1957, and were married for more than sixty years until Ronald’s death on March 29, 2020. Patsy worked as a secretary until the birth of her first child, and then worked as a homemaker. She loved to sew and cook and prided herself in running the household. Ronald worked as a band director in various schools in East and Southeast Texas before he and Patsy settled in Nederland in 1978 when Ronald began working as a Driver’s Education teacher in Port Arthur. They were active members of St. Charles Catholic Church in Nederland. When Ronald retired from teaching in 1989, Patsy entered the workforce again as a secretary. She worked at various banks and retired from Community Bank in 2002.

In their retirement, Patsy and Ronald enjoyed traveling. Their adventures included trips to Hawaii, Alaska, Disney World, Washington DC, and many national parks. They loved spending time with their seven children and their spouses, twelve grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and multiple nieces, nephews and “adopted” grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Dennis J. Sedtal and wife, Denise; Julie M. Collins and husband, Ronnie; Michael E. Sedtal and wife, Michelle; Christopher P. Sedtal and wife, Lisa; Timothy L. Sedtal and fiancé, Jackie; Catherine A. Baker and husband, Jayson; and Jeffery D. Sedtal and wife, Ann-Marie; grandchildren, April Sedtal, Jessica Parker, Rebecca Sedtal, Meagan Williams, Martin Sedtal, Steven Sedtal, North Wagner, Alexander Baker, Angela Baker, Austin Sedtal, Claire Sedtal, and Jeffery Sedtal, Jr.; eight great-grandchildren; brother, John A. Parent; and sister, Linda Parent Robinson.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Lee Sedtal; parents; and brothers, Robert A. Parent, Lionel R. Parent, and Donald J. Parent.

A Rosary will be recited at 5:00 p.m., with a gathering of Mrs. Sedtal’s family and friends to follow until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 211 Hardy Avenue, Nederland, with her entombment to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Groves.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mrs. Sedtal’s honor may be made to St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 211 Hardy Avenue, Nederland, Texas 77627 or to Houston Hospice, 1905 Holcombe Boulevard, Houston, Texas 77030.
