Rae Winger
Rae Mignon Winger, 89, of Beaumont, died Wednesday, January 31, 2018, at Christus Hospital-St. Elizabeth, Beaumont. She was born on October 5, 1928, to Celima Brashear Jackson and Capt Bert Jackson, in Beaumont. Rae was a public-school teacher in Silsbee, Beaumont, and Nederland for forty years. She was a member of the Silsbee Chapter 927 Eastern Star for sixty-five years and a member of St. Andrews Presbyterian church for many years. Rae was known for entertaining at parties at events with her harp. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend.
Survivors include her son, Thomas Winger and his wife, Julia; sister, Meredith Kirk; granddaughter, Regina Michelle Winger; and very special friend, Shirley Rolax and her husband, John, all of Beaumont.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband of fifty-five years, Melvin Winger; brother, Basil Jackson; and sister, Yvonne Westbrook.
A gathering of Mrs. Winger’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Sunday, February 4, 2018, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 5, 2018, at Broussard’s. A family committal will be held at Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont.
