Raynold Thibodeaux

April 13, 1920 - June 17, 2018

Raynold Joseph Thibodeaux, the third of nine children, was born on April 13, 1920, to Clement and Eliza Cortez Thibodeaux in Churchpoint, Louisiana. He passed away on Sunday, June 17, 2018. Raynold was a proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving during World War II in the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign as a Gunnery Sergeant while stationed on the USS Oklahoma in the Hawaiian Islands, Palmyra Atoll, then fighting in the battle of Okinawa. He was a graduate of Southwestern Louisiana Institute (now University of Louisiana at Lafayette) with a degree in civil engineering. After retiring from Jefferson Chemical Company in Port Neches, Texas, he worked as an engineering consultant with Triangle Engineers and Matrix Engineering until he was 80 years old.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Murial Kelly Thibodeaux, his brothers Wilson, Wallace, and Clement, Jr. and sisters Virginia, Norma Lee, Nelma Hightower, and Florence Thompson.

Survivors include his sister, Irona Mazzola of Orange; daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Lynn Battarbee of Centerville; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Chuck Pierce of Beaumont; son and daughter-in-law, Kelly and Terri Thibodeaux of Georgetown; daughter, Penny Walker of Nederland; grandchildren, Bob and Cathy Sonnier of Santa Fe; Kristina and Simon Mott of Missouri City; Amanda Thibodeaux Beltran and fiancé Andrew Guerra of Pleasanton; Jennifer and Ryan Gerlich of Bryan; Mariah Walker and Paige Walker of Nederland; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial Contributions for Mr. Thibodeaux may be made to Southeast Texas Humane Society, P.O. Box 1629, Beaumont, Texas 77704.

A gathering of Mr. Thibodeaux’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, June 21, 2018, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. His funeral service will be 10;00 a.m., Friday, June 22, 2018, at Broussard’s, with his interment to follow at Oak Bluff memorial Park, Port Neches.
