Reba Joyce Tsokos

July 8, 1936 - August 30, 2023

Reba Joyce Tsokos, 87, of Houston, passed suddenly on August 30, 2023. She was born July 8, 1936, in Pineland, Texas to Arthur and Erminie (McDonald) Stubbs.

Reba was raised in Beaumont where she met her husband, George, at a local friend’s family Greek diner. They were married for 49 years, until his death in 2011.

Reba, George and daughters Lynn and Lisa relocated to Houston to a West University bungalow. Many weekends and holidays were enjoyed traveling to their cabin in the deep East Texas woods of Silsbee.

Reba was an extremely gifted and talented artist, spending her working career in the photography industry, specializing in restoration and retouching.

Our mother was a true force of nature, extremely independent and a very hard worker. She mothered everyone she came across. She was a great Southern cook, making the world’s best fried chicken.

Appreciating all aspects of nature, wildlife, flora and fauna, a lover of all animals, she was extremely devoted to all her pets whom she treated like children. They were her true joy and companions throughout her life, especially Lily whom she recently grieved the loss.

In 2021 Reba moved to the Traditions on Buffalo Speedway where the other residents and staff became like a second family to her. Still loving to drive everywhere, she often made Chick-fil-A runs which made her quite popular.

Our family would like to thank with great gratitude all the staff at the Traditions, caretaker Olivia, Erin, Stephanie, and many others who did an excellent job of taking care of her. Also, Anne-Lise and wonderful family for being such great WU neighbors and friends.

Reba was preceded in death by her husband George Tsokos; parents, Julius and Erminie Stubbs; brother, Rudolph Cammack; and beloved son-in-law, Orner “Jerry” Tauber, Jr.

Reba is survived by her daughters, Lynn Tauber and Lisa Tsokos; son-in-law Brandon Wallace; sister, Betty Mattison; brother, George Stubbs; and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Tsokos’ funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 7, 2023, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her interment will follow at Franks Branch Cemetery, Fred.
