Richard Hogan

April 22, 1946 - August 25, 2023

Richard Hogan, 77, of Nome, Texas, died Friday, August 25, 2023. He was born to Margie Oliver Hogan and Albert Reese Hogan, Sr., in Dallas, Texas.

Richard had profound knowledge and skills in many fields. In his early adult life, he was active in the banking industry while pursuing a degree in divinity school. He then settled into a sales position that brought him to Beaumont, Texas, where he met and married the love of his life, Linda Kolander Hogan, and they had two daughters Rachel and Mona.

His lifetime interest in cars and his outstanding mechanical abilities produced a venture into a successful auto mechanics business that he operated for numerous years. It was during this time that he built a dirt track race car, and his family’s free time became consumed with bright lights and fast cars all around Southeast Texas.

His employment with Kraft Food Services in sales generated his endeavor into restaurant ownership. Richard and Linda opened the well known Seafood Galley restaurant, which became a favorite dining spot for customers far and wide.

His love of seafood inspired him to start a successful shrimping business. He spent many hours in the Gulf and Bay areas harvesting an abundance of seafood which he sold to local restaurants and many loyal customers. During this time, he worked at Chevron Pipeline until health issues impeded his abilities. Then you could find him and Linda and their little dog, Bexar, on the lake fishing.

Richard had a diverse interest in musical styles. He could play the piano and organ, sing, and loved a good slow dance. He was artistic, creative, and a great storyteller. His stories will be missed by all.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents and wife of 54 years. Survivors include his daughters, Rachel Cretsinger of Troy, Michigan and Mona Hogan of Nome, Texas; his sister-in-law, Sheila Studdert and husband, David; nieces, Angie Alvey and husband, Trey, and Kari Studdert, all of Nome; great-nieces, Emma and Ella Alvey; and great-nephew, Aiden Minton; and longtime friends Jimmy and Jane Crain.
