My band director from 1972-1974, some of the best times of my life learning from him, rest now…

    Cynthia Trahan Mudd says:

The Forest Park Band was definitely the best part of my high school years. Mr. Janecek was so passionate about his job and most of us did not realize how much he really cared about us. He was an excellent band director; how he turned a large group of willful teenagers into a top performing marching and symphonic band is nothing short of a miracle to me. I will remember him always. Blessings to all of the family.

    Max Fairchild says:

My thoughts are with you and your family. Your Dad was one of my favorite people and I will always cherish the oral history and stories of his life he shared with me.

    Deanna Weitzel says:

David and Gary so sorry for your loss. He is in a good place now having a reunion with your mom.

    Wally Mathews says:

It was my privilege to have Bob as my band director at Marshall from September 1966 through May 1968 and again at Forest Park from August 1969 through May 1972. He instilled in me a drive to be the best I could be. I may not have been the best in the trombone section but I was best version of myself. I have said and will always say that I was blessed to have Bob Janecek as my friend.

    Scott Howell says:

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of such a great man as Robert Janecek. When we sat in the Clarinet section in the 1970’s and first looked at the intro to Agean Festival we pretty much knew he was crazy. What were those, 32nd or 64 th notes? And what marching band ever marched to Creedence Clearwater?!! And whoever had Band Reunions that dwarfed the class reunions? And who knew the friendships that were forged there would carry us so long? And who knew he was teaching us so much more than music?! Thank you Mr Janecek, I know the heavenly music just got a little bit better, I just feel sorry for their clarinet section though. With love and great respect, Scott Howell

    Diane H Shaver says:

    David and Gary,
You and your families are in our prayers. Remembering the days at Marshall and Forest Park! Can’t help but think about your Mom, too, and seeing you all at St. Andrews. God be with you, now and always!

    Mike Pontious says:

A most talented man and director…Bob instilled a discipline and appreciation for music that many of us carry today.

Following graduation in the 70’s, we enjoyed ‘Band Reunions’ for many years.

I don’t know of any other high school departments that celebrate ‘reunions.’

It has been a mainstay of our collective memories.

And, I believe that it has meant something for all of us.

As a person, we all got to know him a bit better, especially after graduation.

    We will miss that.

My sincere thoughts go out to all of Bob’s family, friends and those of us who shared in his music.

    Becky Becker Daniels says:

Mr. Janecek created a community that served as my safe haven during high school. We worked hard and laughed a lot. I’m grateful he was a part of my life.

    Denise Clark says:

The impact he had on the lives of so many students is amazing. He worked our tails off but not only were we better musicians and better people but we always managed have fun. So many happy times to remember. He is the main reason I enjoyed high school . He will be missed.
I am so thankful to have had him as a teacher and later a friend.

I’m so sorry to hear of Mr. Janecek’s passing. He was my band director in the 1970’s at Forest Park High School. Our band was the best in those days because Mr. Janecek was the best music teacher in southeast Texas. He also had a wickedly funny sense of humor. Going to class and marching practice for Friday night football games and marching contest was my favorite time of the year in high school. He will never be forgotten.

    Nancy Hale says:

I am so sorry to hear of Bob’s passing. My thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time.

    Patricia Velzeboer says:

David and Patricia, I’m so sorry for the loss of your father and father in law. Losing one’s parent is always very difficult, but know that he’s had a great and wonderful life. He’s in a wonderful place now. Just remember all the great times you’ve had together. Again, my condolences to you both and “Nate” and “Little Nate.” With much love, Patricia Velzeboer

    Shelly Rao says:
