Robert Sterling, Sr.

Robert Earl Sterling, Sr., 94, of Beaumont, died Tuesday, March 27, 2018. He was born on July 13, 1923, in Beaumont, to Molly Goff and Murphy Foster Sterling. Robert was a United States Navy veteran. He retired from Unocal after thirty-four years of employment and spent time during retirement traveling with his wife and friends all over the United States.

Robert enjoyed gardening vegetables and working in the flower beds. He looked forward to Sundays for family coming over to eat BBQ and ice cream. Robert was an avid fan of the Astros and Jay Bruce.

He is survived by his wife of seventy years, Lillie Mae Sterling; children, Peggy Scarborough and her husband, Ronnie; Robert Sterling Jr.; Kathy Callahan and her husband, John; and Jackie Sterling and Sean Finn; grandchildren, Carrie Kinnard and her husband, Keith; Stacie Feller and her husband, Scott; Marcie Rogers and her husband, Adam; Aaron Sterling; Raegan Sterling and his wife, Jennifer; Tessa Shuff and her husband, Stephen; Jon Reyes; Traci Carter and her husband, Dwight; Phillip Reyes and Kacy Rugg; and Madeline Finn; great-grandchildren, Kayla Kinnard, Hanna McMahan, Hailey McMahan, Andrew Feller, Abby Feller, Timothy McMahan, Kimberley Somers, Joshua McMahan, Parker Rogers, Tyler Rogers, Ayden Sterling, Tatum Sterling, Ian Sterling, Rowan Reyes, Bowman Carter, Gia Carter, and baby Shuff on the way; great-great-grandchild, Logan Somers; and brothers, Demp Sterling, Tootie Sterling, Roland Sterling, and James Sterling.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Gloria Merendino and Betty Cone.; and brother, M.F. Sterling.

A gathering of Mr. Sterling’s family and friends will be form 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with his Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m., Friday, March 30, 2018, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 31, 2018, at Broussard’s, with his interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
