Ruthie Mae (Goff) Miller

October 28, 1940 - March 2, 2024

Ruthie Mae (Goff) Miller was promoted to a heavenly angel at age 83 on Saturday, March 2 at 9:44 p.m. surrounded by her loving family.  Ruthie was born to James & Dorothy (Yarbrough) Goff on October 28, 1940, in Memphis, TN.

After moving around with her family for several years, she landed in Gonzales, LA. While living in Gonzales, she attended a church youth camp where she met the love of her life, her prince, David Miller.  After bonding over a snow cone at youth camp, they courted for a while then married on June 8, 1963, and celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2023.

David and Ruthie began their family in 1965 with the birth of their first-born son, Kendrick (Kenny) Louis Miller.  Voris Anthony (Tony) Miller joined them 18 months later.  Then 18 months after that David Louis (Davie) Miller, II. was born.  With 3 amazing young boys, they followed the leading of God and moved to Nederland, TX in 1970.  In 1974, they had their daughter, Amaris Ruth Miller (Cunningham).

Ruthie loved and served the Lord from a very young age.  She and David continued to serve the Lord together and raise their children in a Godly home.  Ruthie never ceased to show the love of God to everyone she met.  If you spent any amount of time with her, you would know that the key to life is to “watch your words” and “send out good ships”.  Ruthie never had a bad word to say about anyone and would advocate for anyone having a bad time in life.  She was an angel to everyone she met, and she never met a stranger.

Ruthie devoted her life to her family, her children and her Lord.  She had a love for music all of her life.  She sang in church and spent many hours learning to play the piano at home.  She whole-heartedly believed that praising the Lord was the best solution to every problem.  She was a founding member of many churches, the most recent one being Cowboy Church on the Rock in Beaumont, TX.  This was her home until her final days.

Ruthie is proceeded in death by her mother – Dorothy, sister – Doris, son – David II., father – James Goff, granddaughter – Solicia Swearingen and great-grandson – Emmitt Miller.

She is now the guardian angel of the following surviving loved ones:  loving and devoted prince – David Miller, her sons – Kenny Miller & wife Traci, Tony Miller & wife Rhonda, her daughter – Amaris Cunningham & husband Scott, her brothers – James Goff, Calvin Goff & wife Jennifer, and Terry Goff.  She has 7 amazing grandchildren – Nathan Miller & wife Lacey, Sheridyn Olson & husband David, Blake Miller and wife Becca, Erika Spears & husband Blaiz, Hailey Morrison & husband Caleb, Sydney Boudoin & boyfriend Cody Guidry, Alaina Reedy & soon to be husband Logan Wright.  She has left a beautiful legacy to her precious great-grandchildren: Emma Miller, Cade Guidry, Braxton Boudoin, Coby Guidry, Sterling Morrison, Lane Miller, Remingtyn “Remi Kay” Morrison, Kori Guidry, Everly Miller & Parker Olson.

A celebration of Mrs. Miller’s life will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Cowboy Church on the Rock, 13803 US-90, Beaumont, TX.  The church will be open at 8:00 a.m. to receive deliveries.  The family will receive friends and loved ones from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.  The service can be viewed live on the Cowboy Church on the Rock Facebook page.

Her cremation arrangements will be handled through Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland.

Ms. Ruthie was so precious and I loved her dearly. Out of the blue including in recent years she would sent me loving messages of encouragement and love with Bible Scriptures. I know she is singing with the rest of the angels watching over us.

    Roxie Reedy says:

Ruthie was a walking testimony of the sweet, forgiving, eternal love of Jesus. Her smile and cheerful greeting could bring glorious sunshine to any grey day. You always knew who she lived for and adored (Jesus). She will be greatly missed.
Ruthie is way ahead of most of those who arrived at heavens gate before her, but she would never admit it. I know she’s already teaching how to speak softly with loving, encouraging words to everyone she meets. I’m pretty sure she has already sang with the angels and those who preceeded her. She has reunited with her dear family. Most of all, I know Jesus welcomed her home with loving arms!
My love and prayers to all of the family for your great loss.
