Silfide Algallar Anape

June 26, 1956 - January 25, 2024

Silfide Algallar Anape (lovingly Fides to many), 67, of Beaumont, died Thursday, January 25, 2024, at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas, Beaumont.

She was born on June 26, 1956, in Alimodian, Iloilo in the Philippines, to Generosa Algallar and Felimon Quijado Anape. Silfide was a retired nurse.

Survivors include siblings, Rudy Algallar Anape and his wife, Hilda Almira Anape, and Rovine Anape Cruz; and nieces and nephews, Judy Anape Flores; Jade Anape Salvilla; Janie Anape Alfeche; Joemarie Anape; Jim Niño Anape; Romin Wesley Anape Cruz; Jan Louelle Anape Cruz; and Rhianna Faye Cruz Podiotan.

Silfide is preceded in death by her parents, and brother-in-law, Luvimin Cruz.

Fides has been a registered nurse for 40 years. She arrived in Beaumont in 1982 and has been with Baptist Hospital ever since. She rose to the ranks from a staff nurse to the permanent night charge nurse in the medical-surgical unit and has been the anchor and rock to many fresh graduates and seasoned nurses.

Fides was not just a competent nurse leader but she was also a great nurse educator. She has taught aspiring new nurses in the medical-surgical floor and has given all her best to support them grow and develop.

Fides was well loved by her colleagues – the doctors, fellow nurses, nursing aides, physiotherapist, occupational therapists, and other healthcare professionals and hospital staff members because of her amazing work ethics, her very caring nature to her patients and for the great leadership skills she possesses in running the unit.

Fides is also an epitome of a loving and compassionate heart. Without hesitations, she was well-known for being that willing person ready to help another person in need. She has helped financially many of her nieces, nephews, relatives and impoverished countrymen in her neighborhood to pursue and finish their college education and wherever they are now and whatever they have accomplished is all because of her financial help and support.

Of important note, Fides has wholeheartedly supported a community outreach facility that provided assistance to destitute elderlies, youths, children and families in the Philippines named Asilo de Molo located in Molo, Iloilo.

While Fides does not really have a family and children here to call her own, she acts more than a concerned and caring mother to every new Filipino nurse that migrated to the US. You will always see Fides in their midst assisting and helping them feel welcome to their new home away from home.

Fides was so loved by all and will be missed beyond words.

Rest in peace my friend. You had the sweetest disposition and your always encouraged and supported the nurses. You will be missed but your memories will live on forever

You have joined our Maker to what seems like too soon. I will always remember you as a kind, compassionate, and a giving person. I remember you told me before that you are sending some needy & well-deserving kids to school as their anonymous donor. When I asked you why ‘Anonymous’, you didn’t really give me a straightforward answer. I believe you really just wholeheartedly wanted to help without due recognition & honor for your selfless act.
I had fond memories of our unplanned adventure we called “The Tour of Panay” where we set off to visit our relatives and friends, taking different modes of transportation ( except by air as we had no money) & on foot, before we leave our comfort zones for this place called “Abroad”.
I will join you sometime when it’s my turn to get called, then, we can pick up where we left off & go forth to our new “Abroad” up above, & hopefully with wings to take us where we wish to go.
I’m sorry that I could not be physically present for your ‘send -off’.
    Until then.
    Much love,
    Bebbie

I first met “ate” Fides when I was working at the Center for Life Management, Baptist Hospital. She was working in the locked-up unit while I was in the Chemical Dependency unit. I had fond memories of her ‘cause we share the same birthday. At one point in our birthday, we drove to a casino in Louisiana and stayed overnight, played slot machines and ate. We lost but we had fun! We were also “hoarders” (in a good way!). We’re both excited during after-Christmas sale. We went to Eckerd’s and buy a lot of goodies and merchandise. Most of the time, our cars were full of these merchandise and goodies. These were eventually boxed and sent to our respective provinces in the Philippines. When she retired, I often saw her at Edna’s place. I onced heard her say that she didn’t have any savings. It’s ok ate Fides ‘cause you use all your money in supporting those who are in need! For me, you are a saint!…I will surely miss your banana muffin and “hopia” come Christmas time. Rest in peace my dear, ‘til we meet again❣️🙏
