Steve Landry

January 11, 1946 - April 11, 2024

Steve Landry, 78, of China, Texas passed away on April 11, 2024, after a lengthy illness.   He was born on January 11, 1946, to Louise Richard Landry and Eune Paul Landry in Crowley, Louisiana.

Following generations of rice farmers Steve was the first individual to receive a patent for a rice variety. His passion for farming kept him in that line of work until his retirement in 2009 from Texas Agri-Life.

After retirement his interest were restoring old farming equipment, gardening, and woodworking. His yard was filled with swings hanging from trees where you could find him lounging many afternoons.

A Cajun man who loved to cook for his friends and family, listen to Cajun music and preferred staying home to traveling. He lived life the way he wanted, at home with his family until the very end.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years Cheryl Landry; daughter Chersty Harper (Hance) of China, Texas; sons, Leon Landry (Ronda) of Lumberton, Texas; Terence Landry (Tina) of Nome, Texas; Kip Landry of China, Texas; Zachary Landry (Danielle) of Winnie, Texas; and Nicholas Landry (Shalonn) of China, Texas; grandchildren, Atticus, Slade, Evangeline, Jaelynn and Adalynn Landry; step grandchildren, Shalina Wells, Dreston LeBlanc (Kassie), Simon Jones, and Rylan Martin; step great-grandchildren Kyson LeBlanc and Clint Anthony.

Steve is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ronnie Landry.

Mr. Landry’s cremation arrangements were handled through Broussard’s Crematorium under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.
