Vera Mucka

Vera Mucka, 96, of Beaumont, died Sunday, June 4, 2023, at Bonne Vie Nursing Home, Groves. She was born on July 17, 1926, to Essie Pope DeYoung and Roy Martin DeYoung, in Houston.

Vera loved her family her church and the Lord.  She enjoyed baking cakes, oil painting and crocheting in her free time. She loved her grandchildren and spending as much time as possible with them.  One of her favorite things to do was to let her purse fill up with change so when the grandkids came over, she let them go through her purse and gather up all the change. Her purse must have weighed a ton! The grandkids always loved this.  Vera worked for Texas State Department of Human Resources where she retired. She was a cancer survivor. She was fun, sassy and one of the strongest women we know, and we will miss her very much.

Survivors include her sons, Roy Hinson and his wife, Sandy, of Mansfield and Jerry Hinson and his wife, Susan, of Beaumont; grandchildren, Nikki Nordlof and Zachary Hinson, both of Mansfield, Laura Hinson of Austin, Rachel Hinson of Beaumont, Michelle and Juan Camargo of Newcastle, Oklahoma, and Michael and Cany Beck of Irving; great-grandchildren, Kai VanPelt, Kaley Nordlof, Elijah Hinson, Aviah Hinson, Amarie Hinson, Zehra Hafeez, and Zayan Hafeez; and great-great-grandchild, Aries Kelley.

A gathering of Mrs. Mucka’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday, June 9, 2023, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 10, 2023, at Broussard’s, with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
