Vernest "Coffee" Miller
Vernest “Coffee” Miller, 88, of Nederland, died Friday, August 28, 2020 at Palestine Regional Medical Center. He was born February 3, 1932, in Houston, to Ematile Boudreaux Miller and Jarsin Miller.
Coffee was a United States Navy veteran. He retired from Hilti Fastening Systems after years of dedicated service. He was quite the handyman that enjoyed building things. After retirement, Coffee enjoyed gardening and spent many years making music.
Survivors include his children, Renee O’Connor, of Nederland; Janette Lofton and husband, Fred Lynn, of Cary, North Carolina; and Tastie Ray, of Sabine Pass; grandchildren, Trey and Max O’Connor; Lynette Smith and husband, Dale; Bret and Jared Lofton; and Riki and Jesse Hardy; seven great-grandchildren; and aunt, Mary Decoux and husband, Leo, of Groves.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ematile and Jarsin Miller; and wife, Ella V. Miller.
A gathering of Mr. Miller’s family and friends will begin at 8:30 a.m., with his funeral service at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 8, 2020, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. His interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.

My sweet Uncle Coffee! He holds a special place in my heart! He was my Daddy's nephew (Emery (Bob) Miller) and they had a special bond! I always called him Uncle Coffee, altho he was actually my 1st cousin! He was a lot older then me and he seemed more like an Uncle, so that's what I've always called him! He was the only one in our family who kept a watch on me when my Dad wasn't in the picture. That's why he has such a special place in my heart! When I came back in my Dad's life @ 18, Uncle Coffee was the first one I met in this big ole family and I got the biggest hug from him! I loved him so much! Any time he was around people were laughing! The best move I ever made was moving to my Dad's and meeting all my Aunts, Uncles, cousins! I love you Uncle Coffee! Rest in Peace and tell my Daddy I said "Hi! and I miss and love him!" See ya soon!

Coffee sure will be missed. Played music at the Friday jam every Friday night with Coffee. Loved to listen to his music. We had a lot of fun picking and grinning.

Coffee will and already is missed by many who loved him. We spent many friday nights playing music at our jam. I always looked forward to seeing him. He made it more enjoyable. Thank you, for "encouraging my strengths" as I cared for Talmage 24/7 for over 3 years while he was bedridden. Thank you, for always offering my family a hand up.
