W.R. Young, Sr.

February 20, 1921 - September 1, 2022

W.R. Young, Sr., 101, of Beaumont, died Thursday, September 1, 2022. He was born February 20, 1921, in Orange, to Lillian Walker Young and Robert Francis Young. W.R. worked at Mobil Oil for over forty years. He was in the United States Army Air Corp and served in World War II.

W.R. is survived by his son, W.R. Young, Jr., of Beaumont; daughter, Janice Marie Kattawar of Houston; grandchildren, Justin, Daniel, and Rebecca Young, Shelli LeBlanc, Sarah Kattawar, Sumer Inman; twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; and numerous other family members.

He is preceded in death by his wife, May Rose Broussard Young.

A gathering of Mr. Young’s family and friends will begin at 2:00 p.m., with his funeral service at 3:00 p.m., Friday, September 9, 2022, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 4955 Pine Street, Beaumont.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 840692, Dallas, Texas 75284-0692.

    My condolences to his family. Bob was a wonderful neighbor and friend! I will miss him. I’m grateful that our paths crossed. He could always make me laugh! I’m also grateful for the calls and prayers during my grandson’s hospital stay. He kept me sane.
