William “Bill” Cade White
William Cade “Bill” White, 70, died on Monday, December 18, 2023, in Stonewall, Texas. He was born on November 6, 1953, in Beaumont, to Clara Mae Kahla White and James Taylor “Jamie” White, V.
Bill was a member of Grace Methodist Church of Winnie, Texas, and a lifelong resident of Stowell, Texas. Bill owned and operated White Ranch from 1976 until the present. He considered himself blessed to continue the work of his predecessors and continue to build the legacy of White Ranch. He was a supporter of the local community. He was on the board of directors and served on the executive committee of Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association. He was also a lifetime member of the All-Breeds Committee for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Bill had a giving heart and never hesitated to help a friend in need.
Bill’s true passion was ranching. He always referred to himself as the luckiest man alive because he got to do what he loved everyday. On a beautiful day, Bill loved being out on the ranch, but on a rainy day or when it was “too cold,” you could find Bill in his office playing solitaire…or checking the Broussard’s website. He was adamant that he would never retire. And while he lived up to that promise, his new favorite thing to do was sit in his rocking chair and hold his grandkids.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife of forty-six years, Kathrine Choate White; children, Mary Kathrine Moursund and her husband, Albert, of Johnson City and Kyle David White and his wife, Jessica, of Waco; and grandchildren, Emerson Kate White, Dean William Moursund and Eleanor Grace White; sister, Gail White McBride and wife, Fritz Bures, of Round Rock; brother, Steven Kelly White and wife, Sheri, of Stowell; and many much loved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Clara Mae Kahla White; his brother, Kyle David White; his father, James Taylor White, V; sister, Jo Rella White Meaux; and brother, James Taylor White, VI.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at Fairview Cemetery in Winnie, Texas. A gathering of friends and family will follow at The Lodge at Pipkin Ranch, 23347 Big Hill Road, Beaumont, Texas 77705, where the fellowship, stories and memories of Bill will continue. As Bill always said, “It’ll be alright afterwhile.”
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Grace Methodist Church of Winnie, P.O. Box 1509, Winnie, Texas 77665 or your preferred charity in Bill’s honor.

It is with great sorrow that I learned of Mr. White’s passing. We never met and I just learned of your family in the past two years. I am a distant cousin related from William White who was a brother to your James Taylor back in the Carolinas. I recently wrote a book about my side and by accident ran across your family’s history. I wanted to come and meet this man who appeared larger than life and who has such a great legacy. Unfortunately, I waited too long. Mr. White and I are the same age and have been married just as long. Life is full of ironies. May the Lord bless your family in the days ahead and shower you with His greatest blessings.
Katherine and family,
I was greatly sadden to hear of the loss Bill. You and the entire White family are in my thoughts and prayers. May you find comfort and strength through the Lord Jesus Christ in the coming days, weeks, months and years to come. He will bear you up and sustain you and yours.

Saddened by the loss of this great man and friend. I am certainly no cowboy but got to play one with him in the summer of 1978 and relive it with him at the gathering for Billy earlier this year. Kathrine and kids, Gail and Steven our prayers are with you. Bill carried on a legacy that is now over 200 years old and hopefully that legacy will continue.
Words can’t express our sorrow for the passing of Bill. We are just heart broken. The world is a little darker today with this great loss.
Peace comes to us in our memories that Bill lived the Cowboy Life by The Cowboy Code that he loved and honored through out his years. He will live forever in our hearts.

Completely shock to hear of Mr. White’s passing. I am so happy we had a great conversation last Friday.
The world lost a true cowboy. Your way of life and your honorable qualities are a shining example of how we should all desire to live our lives. Rest in peace, God speed!
R. I. P. Bill, your life had special meaning to a lot of us. In this community as well as myself, you will be greatly missed. Hope to see you on the other side. Praying for your family.
As anyone who ever knew him can testify, we have lost another important part of the legacy of White’s Ranch. There were few men who were nicer than Bill. A good husband, father and grandfather, but a good friend to everyone he knew. I’m so sorry Kathrine and family, for the great loss you are experiencing. I’m sorry, too, that I won’t be able to attend as I’m out of state, but know that my love and condolences are with you all.
I feel so fortunate to have known Bill. He was a good man, an honest man, the kind of man good men respected. May Katherine and his family find peace and comfort in the coming days, weeks and months.
I and my family are so very sorry for your loss.
