Willie Hicks, Jr.

April 11, 1928 - February 6, 2018

Willie James Hicks, Jr., 89, of Sour Lake, died Tuesday, February 6, 2018, at Christus Hospital-St. Elizabeth, Beaumont. He was born on April 11, 1928, to Zela Ray Cox and Willie James Hicks, in Luling, and was a United States Army veteran. Willie worked at Mobil Oil for forty-two years as a special pumper.

Survivors include his son, Richard Hicks and his wife, Beth, of Sour Lake; brother, Carl Hicks and his wife, Joann, of Nederland; nephew, David Blanton of Beaumont; four step-grandchildren; and seventeen step-great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Sadie Aiena Hicks and sister, Etta Ray Blanton.

A gathering of Mr. Hick’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m., Sunday, February 11, 2018, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 12, 2018, at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 225 West Barkley, Sour Lake. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
