James “Jimmy” Bruce Butler
James “Jimmy” Bruce Butler, 71, of Silsbee, passed away on April 5, 2024. He was born on June 29, 1952, in Silsbee, to Ethel Estelle Kite Butler and I.M. Butler.
Jimmy was a longtime resident of Hardin County where he retired as a captain from the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office. After retirement he went into home building/construction. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved spending time with family and friends. If you knew Jimmy, then you knew where to get your peas and corn.
Survivors include his wife of fifty years, Linda Butler; daughter, Jill Powell and her husband, David; and son, Caleb Butler and his wife, Jessi, all of Silsbee; grandchildren, Tyler Powell and his wife, Kyndal; Taylor Holt and her husband, Bailey; Addison Butler, Noah Marek, Hailey Butler, and Luke Butler; great-granddaughters, Hallie Holt and Adalynn Barnett; and sisters, Myra Harrell and Henny Bodle and her husband, Bobby, all of Lumberton. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Sammy Butler.
A gathering of Mr. Butler’s family and friends will be 3:00 p.m. with his funeral service at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, April 7, 2024 at Freedom Fellowship Church, 8137 Highway 418 W, Silsbee under the direction of Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee. His interment will follow at R.S. Farmer Memorial Cemetery, Silsbee.
