Patricia Beatrice Culver, 92, of Sour Lake, died Tuesday, June 25th, 2024. She was born on June 6th, 1932, to Margaret Hilda Mott and Percy Arthur Gunner in Walton-on-Thames, Surrey, England. She was a professional dancer with Julie Andrews before coming to America in 1951 to marry her one and only husband, when she was 19 years old, and he was 21. Together they created a huge family. They were married for 71 years, and 9 months, until the Lord called him home exactly one year and nine days before she, too, would pass from this life. Eric was induced to be born by the 4th of July. However, the induction did not take. When he was born via c-section, his face was scrunched up, frowning and he opened his eyes as if in disbelief. A healthy baby boy was born. Being first time parents with Eric was a great experience and God given privilege. He brought in so much joy, and happiness with each milestone. He loved what his mama and daddy loved growing up. His brain was a sponge soaking up all knowledge and information. He was a sweetheart who loved to talk. He was independent and insistent on doing most things on his own. He was excited and supportive every time he learned he was gaining a new sibling. He wanted to be helpful and was very loving. Gail Louise Yarbrough, 86, of Beaumont, died Friday, June 21, 2024, at Harbor Hospice, Beaumont.  She was born on July 29, 1937, to Caroline Riggs and John Graham, in Grand Ronde, Oregon. Survivors include Her daughter, Katherine Alford; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Clifford Yarbrough. JoAnn Price Giblin, age 92, died June 20, 2024. Born in Port Arthur, Texas, to John and Mary Price, she lived most of her life in Beaumont, graduating from Beaumont High School and Lamar Technical College.  She was retired from the Jefferson County Courthouse, department of the County Clerk. A lifelong member of the United Methodist Church, Ms. Giblin had been a teacher at youth Sunday school and involved in other youth activities. For many years she was a leader in public school scouting programs for both boys and girls. And later became an active member in the local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Doris Fouts, 101, of Pearland, died Thursday, June 20, 2024.  She was born on January 4, 1923, in Greenfield, Iowa, to William Hoepner and Alma (Mensing) Hoepner. Doris loved to talk about growing up on her parent’s farm outside of Greenfield with her siblings, and traveling with her forever love, Glen, who celebrated 61 years of marriage until his passing in 2013. Doris, Glen and their son Randy moved from Iowa to Texas in 1956, where in 1959, she became a founding member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and would later become a member of The Mission Circle Lutheran’s Women’s Group. She enjoyed spending time with her family, baking bread, always had a can of snickerdoodles in the freezer, and was passionate about her Astros. Eugene Lacey Martin, age 86, of Beaumont, Texas. Eugene was born to A.J. and Eloise Martin in Beaumont, Texas, on October 27, 1937, and passed on June 19, 2024, in Beaumont, Texas.  Eugene was the second of five boys and lived most all of his life on his family’s farm in the community of Labelle. Eugene was an honest, fair and hardworking man who was dedicated to his family. He served in the US Army from 1955 to 1957 on Active Duty and in the US Army Reserves from 1958 to 1960. Eugene had a successful career spanning 42 years at Ameripol Synpol Corporation and 18 years at the Port of Port Arthur. Keith Bowman, 64, of Beaumont, died Monday, June 17, 2024, at Village Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation, Kountze. He was born on December 20, 1959, to Jeanette Nelson Bowman and Phillip Dean Bowman, in Vidor. Betty Turner, 93, of Beaumont, died Friday, June 14, 2024. She was born on February 20, 1931, in Beaumont to Hattie Luke Collier and Frank Collier. Betty graduated from South Park High School in 1948.  In her younger years, she attended South Park Church of Christ.  It was here that she met the love of her life, James ‘Eddie’ Turner, one Sunday when he attended with a friend.  They married in 1949 and had 4 children by the time Betty turned 25.  Betty also was a legal secretary with Orgain, Bell & Tucker for many years. James “Jim” Suire, 88, of Beaumont, died on Monday, June 10, 2024.  He was born on March 11, 1936, in Beaumont, to Louise Bourque Suire and Nicholas Suire, and was a United States Navy veteran. Jim lived his life with intention and honor.  His dedication to his faith and church guided his steps and his love for his family guided his hands.  Being a provider was important to him as was making people laugh.  Jim was proud to serve both church and country as a veteran of the United States Navy and a Fourth Degree Knight.  He was a faithful member of St. Jude church and lover of all things Cajun. His open heart and generous spirit made anyone feel instantly comfortable. Janelle Teresa Prevost Vest Sharp, 94, of Beaumont, passed away on June 10, 2024, in Beaumont. She was born on July 30, 1929, in Beaumont, to Arthur J. and Elvidge Prevost. She was one of eight children raised in Beaumont, where she graduated from Beaumont High School. Janelle was a lifelong member of the Sabine Tabernacle in Beaumont, where she had deep roots in the Gospel of Christ. It has been that love of Christ that was always her guide. On October 28, 1953, she married Oscar John Vest, Jr, of Beaumont. They had two children, Oscar John Vest III and Suzanne Vest. Her husband, Oscar, precedes her in death. Helen Sohlinger, 82, of Beaumont, died Friday, June 7, 2024, at Christus Southeast Texas-St. Elizabeth, Beaumont.  She was born on October 4, 1941, to Aline Mary Dekerlegand Gallier and Joseph Louis Gallier, in Beaumont. Helen was an amazing woman.  Even when her children, Patrick and Christine, were very small, she was very involved with the Woman’s Club of Beaumont, and later with the Press Club of Southeast Texas and the Thyme for Herbs Society.  She loved to cook and was a foodie before that was a thing.  She loved trying out gourmet recipes and her collection of cookbooks numbered in the hundreds.  Her kids loved her simpler foods, like her bread pudding and her onion gravy.  She also loved to sew and made many clothes for daughter Christine, and then granddaughter Hannah. Catherine “Cathy” Minick, 88, passed away peacefully, Thursday, June 6, 2024, at Vidor Health & Rehabilitation Center in Vidor, Texas. She married Paul Leon Minick in 1993 in Las Vegas, after living together for 17 years. They were happily married for 26 years before his passing in 2019. Their 43 years together created a large blended family. Cathy was born July 13, 1935, in Beaumont, Texas, to Harry B. and Ivy Massingill. She graduated from South Park High School in 1953 and attended Lamar State College of Technology for 2 years. Cathy worked at Jimmy Himmel Motors in Downtown Beaumont, and many years at Joe’s Oilfield Rental Tools, from which she retired. To reward themselves, Cathy and Paul built a beach house and spent their later years between Beaumont and Crystal Beach. Mrs. Jacqueline Engstrom, age 78, is now in God’s care after passing away on June 4, 2024, after a brief illness. She was born in Beaumont, Texas, on February 10, 1946. Jacqueline was preceded in death by her parents, Jack May and Mattie Beth May and her husband, Harold Engstrom. Also, by her best friend and roommate, Marguerite Long, who was her partner in crime. Jackie had a host of friends over her lifetime and lit up the room when she walked in. She loved being “Jackie” to all of her grandkids. Jackie had been a Dallas Cowboys fan her whole life and loved sports. She was always willing to travel for a baseball game. Jack was also an avid animal lover, especially her dogs. Mark “Happy” Vickers, 72, of Beaumont, died Tuesday, June 4, 2024. He was born on February 8, 1952, to Sylvia Cornwall Vickers and Leroy Vickers, in Beaumont. Mark was a loving father, husband, son, brother and friend to many. He was always selfless, always putting others before himself. He never hesitated to cover shifts at the plant when someone else needed to take off. Mark was a mentor to the younger operators and he loved the camaraderie of the older men….especially when food was involved. He donated 86 gallons of blood and plasma that saved countless lives. He always took care of projects at his mother’s house and that led him to offer his assistance to the widows at church and the neighborhood. Robert Arlen Carroll, of Beaumont, Texas, passed away at age 76 on June 3, 2024. Robert was born in Monroe, Louisiana on August 17, 1947. A faithful veteran, Robert served in the United States Army as a SP4 E4 in the 173rd airborne brigade and a sergeant in the 82nd airborne division. Some of his most treasured stories are from fighting alongside his fellow soldiers in the Vietnam War and jumping out of airplanes to strategically support the mission there. After honorable discharge from the military, Robert worked for many years as an appliance repair technician and offshore for Port Neches Towing Company. James Francis Gaffney, 90, of Beaumont, died Sunday, June 2, 2024. He was born on March 29, 1934, in Glasgow, Scotland, to Margaret Winnifred Marron and James Francis Gaffney. James started his career at the age of 16 when he entered the Merchant Marine Academy in Scotland. He worked his way through the ranks to the position of Captain, where he sailed Super Tankers around the world for Texaco. In 1971, he took a position in the London office and eventually moved to Texas in 1988 to run Texaco Marine division as CEO. In 1995, he retired at the age of 61 and spent many years hoping to improve his golf game. Jimmy Semien was born to Morris Semien and Rae Orebo in Beaumont, Texas, on March 5, 1950, and passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 2, 2024, at the age of 74. In 1968, Jimmy met the love of his life, Jolynn Semien, and they were married on February 8, 1973. They shared 26 wonderful years of marriage and together raised three sons, Micheal, Reggie, Conan. Carl B. Rush was born January 20, 1924, to Ray and Bernice Goshert Rush in Mentone, Indiana.  His early years in Indiana were spent working on their farm, custodian at city library, working in machine shop, and custodian at the bank. His family taught him a strong work ethic that he continued throughout his life and was carried on to his children and grandchildren. He never had a lazy day in his life – he was either working, doing things with family, volunteering, or reading a book. Larry Lamar Lewis, 83, of Beaumont, passed away on Friday, May 31, 2024 at home after a brief illness. He was born on October 11, 1940 in Beaumont, Texas to Edna Mott Lewis and Sam Lewis. Larry was a lifelong resident of Southeast Texas. He graduated from French High School in 1959 and worked primarily for Crown Zellerbach, James River Corp., and eventually Printpack, Inc. as a supervisor and shift foreman. John O. “Bill” Clayton, 97, of Vidor, Texas, passed away on Friday, May 31, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in Quinlan, Oklahoma, on August 13, 1926, to Lelia L. Newman and Charles E.
