Troyce Wesley Taylor, 88, died Thursday, June 27, 2024.  He was born on July 15, 1935, in Center, to Pauline Clarke and Alvin Ellis Taylor. Troyce W. Taylor’s life journey was marked by unwavering dedication to his country, community, and cherished family. Enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1955, Troyce proudly served for three years, a period that saw the joyous arrival of his first-born daughter, Rita, during his station in Anchorage, Alaska. Following his military service, Troyce returned to Orange, Texas, before settling in Evadale in 1959, where he and Rose raised their family. Over the years, their family grew with the additions of daughters Paula and Phyllis, followed by son Sonny and youngest daughter Amanda. For 38 years, Troyce dedicated himself to the Evadale community at the paper mill until his well-earned retirement. An active pillar of the Evadale community, Troyce’s impact extended far beyond his professional achievements. […]

Charles Francis Grillot, 69, of Lumberton, died after an extended illness on Saturday, June 22, 2024.  He was born on November 11, 1954, in Mortsel, Belgium, and adopted by Janice and Irwin Grillot. Charles graduated from Kirby High School in Woodville, Texas and then Texas State Technical Institute in Waco, majoring in Auto Mechanics.  He held various jobs over the years and spent the last twenty-two years working for Lumberton Independent School District, retiring from the Transportation Department. Ronnie was the owner and operator of Ronnie’s Garage. There was nothing he couldn’t work on. Engine to transmission- he was your man. He married the love of his life, Linda Smith, at a very young age and they were inseparable. She stole his heart from day one. George Arthur Drake, 87, of Silsbee, died Wednesday, May 22, 2024. He was born on March 27, 1937, in Silsbee, to Callie Yawn Drake and Reverend Roderick Murrah Drake. George was a Past Master of Silsbee Lodge, #927, A.F. and A.M. George met the love of his life, Bobbie Wise, in 1953, at church in Woodville.  Three years later he and Bobbie married on March 16, 1957.  They were married for sixty-seven glorious years. He retired from Texaco Refinery in 1995.  He was an expert carpenter and cabinet builder.  He also did remodeling and roofing for numerous people in the Silsbee area. Marvin Howard Taylor of Lumberton, Texas passed away on Saturday April 6 after reaching the age of 81 years old. He was born on July 19, 1942 in Beaumont, Texas to Grace Ida Gore Taylor and J.C. Taylor. He was one of seven siblings that he cherished and protected throughout their childhood. As a very young man he learned to work hard and provide for his family. He was an avid carpenter and could build anything – even if it meant telling someone else how to do it. Beverly was an amazing mother, daughter, sister, and friend.  Once she met you, she was a friend for life.  She had an amazing smile and a heart of gold.
