W.D. “Bill” Taylor, 89, of Hamshire, died Tuesday, June 25, 2024. He was born on March 7, 1935, in Madisonville, to Beatrice and L.L. Taylor. Bill was the patriarch and backbone of the family. He was a guiding figure and support for all he encountered. He was a pastry chef and loved making breakfast for anyone around—his pancakes and biscuits were a family favorite. Bill enjoyed nature and lived a life amongst it—whether ranching, gardening, fishing, or shrimping, he could always be found outdoors. He spent many years in the plant industry as a process operator eventually retiring from Mobil Oil. He is remembered as a father figure to all those in the family and his memory and impact live on. He was born in San Augustine, Texas on December 5, 1935, to Lewis and Leona Smith. James began working at McLeod Machine Works when he was a junior at Beaumont High School. He worked there for seventy years. His Father-in-law, H.B. McLeod, started the business in 1948. James loved the Lord, his family, fishing, and being a machinist. Born March 5, 1946, in Beaumont, Texas, he was the son of the late Raymond Hawkins and Melba (Morgan) Hawkins. Lynn is survived by his wonderful, loving wife of 55 years, Judy; son, Chris, and wife Jamie; and a very special grandson, Mason Hawkins of Conroe, Texas. In addition to his parents, Lynn was preceded in death by his brother, Kerry. Donald Hendry McCracken, II, 80, of Beaumont, died Thursday, June 6, 2024. He was born on November 10, 1943, in Buffalo, New York. Don graduated from Beaumont High School. Then following in his father’s footsteps of military service, Don enlisted in the United States Navy pursuing a career as a naval aviator.  After basic training and advanced flight training, Don would deploy to support war efforts in the Vietnam War aboard the Bon Homme Richard (CVA 31). He grew up in Beaumont and was a life-long member of Calvary Baptist Church. He was active in high school sports playing football, basketball, and baseball. He attended Lamar Tech on a basketball scholarship where he excelled both on and off the court. Lisa Boudreaux Haygood, 61, passed away peacefully, Monday, May 13, 2024. Born on May 22, 1962, she was a devoted mother of five (including two sets of twins), a passionate teacher of theater arts, and a loving wife. Lisa graduated from Texas State University in 1985, and she acted and directed in countless theatrical performances. She touched many lives with her humor and sincerity and will be greatly missed. Lisa is survived by her husband and best friend, Russell Haygood; sons, Christopher, Jordan, Joshua, and Brandon; daughter, Brooke; sisters, June Hill and Paula Webb; brothers, Bob and Tim Boudreaux; grandson, Rowan Haygood; and numerous nieces and nephews. Jeanette Caudillo, 81, of Houston, formerly of Beaumont, died on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 12, 2024. Jeanette was born on October 3, 1942, in Rayne, Louisiana.  She graduated from Beaumont High School in 1961.  After graduation, she worked as an optical technician for Texas State Optical (TSO) Laboratory for 30 years.  After leaving TSO, Jeanette received a Medical Office Skills Certificate from Lamar University. She utilized her new skills to start a second career at Christus St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, where she worked as a Cash Posting Clerk for 10 years, until she officially retired in 2003. After graduation she attended Lamar College, and later graduated from the University of Houston in 1952 with a Bachelor of Science degree. Floyd Frederick Flanagan

Floyd Frederick Flanagan, 93, of Beaumont, died Wednesday, March 27, 2024. He was born on December 20, 1930, in Beaumont, to Ruby Rhode and John Flanagan. Floyd attended Beaumont High School where he was a standout athlete in tennis, basketball, and baseball. He was selected to play on the Beaumont all-city baseball team. Floyd earned a basketball scholarship at Lamar University and went on to play professional baseball. He married his high school sweetheart, Sue Carolyn Chambers on December 30, 1950.Floyd was drafted into the US Army as an MP stationed in Wurzburg, Germany in 1952.  He returned to the US and became general manager and president of a local oil and gas distributorship. Thomas Hart Cobb passed away on March 26, 2024, in Beaumont, Texas at the age of 55.  Born on November 23, 1968, to Amelie Suberbielle Cobb and the Honorable Howell Cobb, Tom was raised in Beaumont, attended All Saints Episcopal School and Monsignor Kelly High School and graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University. After living in Washington, DC for several years, he returned to Beaumont where he lived until his passing. Tom never met a stranger. Jose Braulio Huerta, 70, of Beaumont, died Saturday, March 23, 2024. He was born on April 27, 1953, in Mexico City, Mexico, to Cecilia Cisneros and Mario Huerta. Survivors include his wife, Carolina; children, Karina Sosa (Ronaldo); Lizbeth Torres (Roberto); and Leslie Huerta; grandchildren, Jaydan Torres; Jadrian Torres; Jiovan Torres; Jahnya Torres; Darian Huerta (Stephanie Gomez); and Jamir Huerta; great-granddaughter, Debaney Huerta; four siblings; niece, Evelin Alarcon (Gilberto); and numerous other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Stroke Association, P. O. Box 840692, Dallas, Texas 75284-0692.
