Victor Arnim Wessels, Jr., 74, of Dayton died Sunday, June 23, 2024. He was born on January 16, 1950, in Houston, to Muriel Jeanne Edworthy Wessels and Victor Arnim Wessels, Sr. Victor was part owner of Wessel Machine Works along with his father and brother. He worked for the City of Houston’s Metro system as a bus driver and later supervisor where he retired after many years. Victor was a member of the Dayton Volunteer Fire Department He enjoyed living away from the city and residing on his rural acreage where at one time he had horses and cattle with Jolynn who preceded him in death in 2007. He enjoyed researching any topic as well as visiting with friends over lunch. He is someone who was always available whenever you needed him. He will be greatly missed. He was born on March 26, 1948, in Port Arthur, to Gloria Pinell Smith and Claude Dawson Smith, Sr. Davey was a proud veteran of the United States Army, where he served in the Vietnam War.  He had many hobbies over his life. He was born on July 6, 1942, in Orange, Texas, to Helen Hales Shifflett and Joe Shifflett. Jimmy was a devoted husband of 45 years, a loving father, and a cherished grandfather. He cared deeply about his family and community, always guided by a strong moral compass that led him to fight for what was right. After serving in the United States Army actively from 1959 to 1962, Jimmy performed various odd jobs throughout the Golden Triangle area, as well as becoming a lifelong member of the Port Neches Masonic Lodge, and then pursued a career in law enforcement in 1969. Rita Henley Williams, 68, of Saratoga, died Friday, September 15, 2023, in the arms of her beloved daughter, Heather. She was born on January 17, 1955, in Silsbee, Texas to Ruby Carlile Henley and Gilbert E. Henley. Rita was a life-long resident of the Silsbee area and a graduate of Silsbee High School.
