Jerry Wayne “Coach” Covington, 80, of Sour Lake, Texas, died Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Houston Methodist Hospital.  He was born on January 14, 1944, to Effie Lee Jones Covington and Francis Covington in Meridian, Mississippi, and was a United States Marine Corps veteran. He was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Kathryn Phipps Goodness and Charles Harold Edward Goodness. Charlie was raised primarily by his mother and was a mischievous child. Deborah Lee (Debbie) Myers passed away April 1, 2024, at the age of 73. She was born May 23, 1950, to Charles H. and Gretta N. Donaldson, in Toledo, Ohio.  Debbie trained as a nurse and attended the Toledo Hospital School of Nursing in Toledo, Ohio. However, she never practiced nursing, choosing to stay home and raise a family. She loved reading, crafting, camping, gardening, and spending time outdoors enjoying the beauty of nature.  Debbie is survived by her husband of 51 years, Vern, daughter Elisabeth, and brother David. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, and her son Matthew. She was an inspiration to all who knew her. Her passing will be memorialized at a private gathering of closest family and friends. Frances “Fran” Eidom, 89, died Wednesday, March 27, 2024, in Beaumont, Texas. Fran was born March 28, 1934, in Sand Flat, Texas, to Elvin and Ellen Abram. They later moved to Groves, Texas, and she graduated from Port Neches High School. She then went to work at DuPont and met the love of her life, Nelson Eidom. They married in 1953 and had three children, Tanya, Joe and Tressa. Fran enjoyed all aspects of life including being a mother, sister, wife, and friend. From cooking roast for her family to bringing a meal to a friend, she always found a way to serve others. Dr. O.R. (Rudy) Allred, 91, of Beaumont, Texas passed away Sunday, March 24, 2024. He was born to Eliza and Nellie Cowart Allred on September 1, 1932, in Brookhaven, Mississippi. He grew up in Groves, Texas, graduating from Port Neches-Groves High School. Rudy came to Beaumont in 1957 after graduating from the University of Texas Dental School-Houston. He practiced dentistry there from 1957 until 1998. He was always active in the Southeast Texas Dental Society where he served as President and Past President. He was involved with many other dental associations as well, becoming a Fellow in the Academy of General Dentist and Fellowship in the American College of Dentistry. Glenn Willard Mikko, 78, of Beaumont, died Saturday, March 23, 2024. He was born on April 25, 1945, in Melvindale, Michigan to Hilda Evelyn Olson and Willard Mikko. Glenn was an avid hunter and he loved fishing. He loved and supported the Meals on Wheels program as a delivery driver for many years. Glenn enjoyed going to church and fellowshipping with fellow believers. He secretly enjoyed the gardening and busy work that Wanda got him into over the years. Glenn loved spending time with his family, especially at the lake house or beach house at least once a year. Our brother, Chris, suffered a fatal heart attack on March 21, 2024, in his hometown of Beaumont, Texas. Chris was born in 1957, a year that calls to mind stylish automobile designs, Sputnik, Elvis Presley’s Graceland and President Eisenhower’s 2nd term. It was also the year that the Edson family moved from Magnolia Avenue to Clinton Drive. Chris’s birth, marking the 6th child of Mamie and Ed Edson, Jr., jokingly earned a basketball trophy from family friend, Waldo Wilson, for completion of the boys’ team. Chris’s favorite sister, Missy Fisher, and the three surviving brothers, Richard, Johnny and Ed, have cherished memories of their baby brother. Chris was the apple of their eye and stood up well to their obligatory teasing. Chris completed his primary education in Beaumont.
